On Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, Mosaic Elementary students kicked off their day with a special celebration in honor of Walk & Roll to School Day. The event encouraged students to walk or ride their bikes to school, creating a fun and healthy start to the day.

A big highlight of the event was the energetic musical performance by the George Mason University Drumline, also known as the Green Machine, as students arrived at Mosaic. Their lively rhythms set the perfect tone for the morning's events. Our beloved mascot, Musty the Mustang, was also on hand to greet students and join in the fun.

Special thanks goes to Linda Watkins from Injury Prevention at Inova, who teamed up with Safe Kids Fairfax County to provide an inspiring banner for all participants to sign. This banner is now proudly displayed in the lobby of our school. Inova and Safe Kids also went above and beyond by providing helmets, protective gear, and a variety of fun prizes for students to win in our raffles. In addition, they generously donated healthy snacks for students as they arrived to school.

The grand prizes, which included a bike, scooter, and skateboard, were arranged by Ms. Blevins, one of our math resource teachers. Thanks to her efforts, students had an array of exciting rewards to look forward to.

We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our PTA, parent volunteers, and teacher volunteers, who all came out to help make the event run smoothly. Their support, along with the local businesses and organizations, created an unforgettable experience for our students.
